This report describes the experience of developing linguo-didactic materials for the professional retraining program “Translator in the Field of Professional Communication (International Relations Degree)”. The program is designed for two years and aims to develop the skill of professionally oriented translation of medium complexity. The program involves the following theoretical disciplines: an introduction to linguistics and the basics of the theory of the English language; the theory of translation; the stylistics of the Russian language. Within the framework of the program, several training manuals have been developed: the first, “Sustainable Development Goals: A Guide to Interlingual Communication” consists of two parts, and the second, “Translation Training for International Students,” is at the testing stage. The first manual, designed accordingly for the first year of linguistics training, includes the following topics: the biggest global challenges, food security, inclusive growth, education, and work. The second part of the manual covers the topics of the future of the Internet and science, environmental and health issues, global finance, democracy and authoritarianism, and the preservation of peace. The “Translation Training” manual covers the topics of public diplomacy, international law, cooperation in space, the global economy and energy. Each manual has a clear structure that allows students to progressively master the target vocabulary and correct pronunciation. It is designed to master the grammatical and stylistic norms of the language, as well as train the skills of listening, interpretation, translation and sight translation. During the testing phase, it has been proven that this system allows students to systematically and effectively learn the material and gain targeted skills.
